We collect glasses from friends, churches and Lions Clubs in Missouri. Three times a year a visit is made to the Merida area with suitcases full of glasses. Currently almost 3,000 people each year receive the gift of better sight.

What other needs does the Merida Foundation address? With many of the indigenous Mayan families existing on less than $2.00 a day, it is difficult for them to provide proper nutrition for their children. And it is difficult for children to learn when they are hungry. Recognizing this, the Merida Foundation now sponsors a food program to provide a daily serving of meat and cheese or peanut butter, a glass of milk or juice, and a chewable vitamin. The cost of each meal averages just under 90 cents.
